We are ready to receive invitation for participation in the peace mission in Afghanistan, Nikolay Svinarov, Defense Minister, announced. He said that currently the question is still under debate. The decision will be taken after Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg returns from Madrid at the beginning of January. In case a request for sending peace troops in Afghanistan is made to Bulgaria the decision has to be approved by the Cabinet and the Parliament. According to Defense Minister Svinarov Bulgaria is prepared to send a brigade or a company, but the choice ultimately depends upon the demands that will be made. “The only thing we will unequivocally reject will be setting up a field hospital, since we don’t have the necessary equipment,” he said. According to General Miho Mihov, Chief of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Army, the question has not been discussed at the General Staff.
