Diplomats and celebrities came together on Sofia's rainy Sunday morning, for a charity marathon against breast cancer.
The ambassadors of Iraq, Denmark, Argentine, Spain, Brazil, Holland, South Africa and other countries took part in the run, which marked the start on Bulgaria's national campaign against breast cancer.
Despite the cool weather and the rain that poured on the city overnight, the diplomats and the ladies from the International Women's Club took a run in the South Park. Lots of people who were out for a Sunday walk joined the marathon.
Most of those were drawn by the presence of popular Bulgarian artists, like singer/ choreographer Galya Hristova and pop artist Irina Florin.
One of the main aims of the campaign is to collect funds for a mobile mamograph. The facility is needed for the examination of women in remote areas, where hospitals lack the necessary equipment.
The anti-cancer move was organized by the International Women's Club and under the patronage of first lady Zorka Parvanova.
