US ENTERGY TO START UPGRADING MARITSA IZTOK 3 IN MID-2002

US-based Entergy plans to launch a USD 650 M rehabilitation project of the 840 MgW Maritsa Iztok 3 coal-fired power plant most probably in the middle of next year, Dnevnik Daily reported, citing insiders. The National Electricity Company contracted Entergy on upgrading and operating the plant in June. Recently appointed Energy Minister Milko Kovachev told journalists that the funding scheme for the project is expected to be finalized at the beginning of 2002.
