PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE APPEALS AGAINST RELEASE OF TRAGIC DISCO MANAGER

Anguel Nikolov, manager of the Indigo disco club, has been taken into custody for three days, the maximum period the Prosecutor’s Office can impose, the Prosecutor’s Office press center announced in connection with the release of the manager of Sofia disco club Indigo. He was charged with causing the death of seven children because of negligence. The Prosecutor’s Office demands that the court issue a report for arresting the defendant. Sofia District Court rejected the demand. The Prosecutor’s Office appealed against the decision before the Sofia Court of Appeals. The hearing of the case is scheduled for December 28. The only defendant of the case is the disco club manager. If found guilty he faces from five to fifteen years in prison. The Specialized Investigating Services will lead the investigation into the case from now on. Seven children died in a stampede on December 21crushed by the mob at Sofia disco club Indigo. Following the tragedy the Prime Minister declared December 23 a day of national mourning.
