All Bulgarian museums will open their doors for free access September 23 to 26 to mark the European Heritage Days.

The visitors will also be able to visit free of charge all Bulgarian historical landmarks and monuments that have been closed for conservation and renovation, Professor Todor Krastev, honorable chairman of the Bulgarian national committee of IKOMOS, announced.

The project is being organized with the cooperation of the Bulgarian Culture Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Sports and Youths Agency and the National Institute for Cultural Landmarks.

Bulgaria is participating in that initiative for the seventh time.

Earlier in the week it was reported that a Red book about all the archaeological monuments at risk in Bulgaria will be issued by the Bulgarian Architects Union. The initiative is a part of the "Heritage at Risk", part of the European Heritage Days. The book will contain the names of all the buildings and monuments with cultural and historical significance, which are in a great risk of destroying.
