The six Bulgarian medics, charged with intentionally infecting Libyan children with HIV met on December 27 an official from the Qaddafi International Foundation for Charity Associations, chaired by Seif al-Islam the son of the Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi. The official brought small Christmas gifts to the Bulgarians. Qaddafi’s son was expected to meet the medics but he didn't. The hearing of the case against the six Bulgarian was postponed again on December 22. It took only one minute for the Libyan People's Court decision to be announced. The next hearing was scheduled for February 17, 2002. Dr. Ivan Nenov, husband of one of the nurses Nassya Nenova said that he will stay in Libya and look for a job there so that he is close to his wife. Seif al-Islam arranged the permission for letting the medics outdoors for the first time in three years at the request of Bulgarian Foreign Minister Passy. Seif al-Islam observes the trial against the medics. Qaddafi’s son expressed his sincere condolences in a telegram on the death of the seven children in the tragic incident in nightclub Indigo.
