"Todoroff" Bulgarian wine cellar arranged a true ethnographic feast for their guests to celebrate the consecration of the new harvest on Sunday.

Dionysus himself, along with the Cupbearer welcomed politicians, celebrities and art connoisseurs under a wine arch, decorated with vines and grapes in the village of Brestovica in the Plovdiv region. The guests, greeted with wine and garlands of vine leafs, witnessed a recreation of ancient rituals for bringing in the first harvest.

On a white cloth laid upon the green meadow, a genuine spectacle unveiled under the sounds of Rhodope bagpipe while young maidens flew in the dances of Bulgaria's forbearers. Folk singers Petya Todorova and Violeta Izmirova, enchanted the audience as students from the Music Academy in Plovdiv demonstrated the dance routines of the Thrace people. In no time hosts and guests alike joined in, dancing a typical Bulgarian choro.

Ivan Todoroff, owner of the wine cellar and bearer of the Wine Knight Order, personally poured the first grate of grapes in to be processed and soon the wine masters were working on the new wine while the guests were still celebrating.

The ecclesiastical ritual of consecrating the new harvest ended with everyone joining in on Mnogaya Leta and the guests moved on to wine-tasting and to the numerous specialties of the local chefs.
