Free blood pressure tests were organized in Sofia by the Bulgarian arm of pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, heralding the World Heart Day's celebrations.
About 1000 Sofia citizens availed themselves of the service provided in front of the National Theatre Ivan Vazov, including Professor Doctor Pimpirev, chairman of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, and Elena Anguelova, who was crowned Miss Bulgaria in 1999.
The campaign was organized just days after the Bulgarian arm of AstraZeneca marked five years in the country with a broad campaign of textbooks donation.
The campaign will include the towns Plovdiv, Varna, Stara Zagora and Pleven to wind up on September 25.
In 1999 Sweden's Astra and UK Zeneca merged to create one of five global leaders in the pharmaceutics.
Just a year later AstraZeneca set a permanent foot in Bulgaria and established the Clinical Research Associates - own R&D department with investments of more than USD 7 M so far.
AstraZeneca is a laureate of BBLF's Society Investor 2004 award.
