BULGARIA HAILED AFGHANISTAN'S INTERIM GOVERNMENT

Bulgaria hails Afghanistan's interim administration inaugurated on December 22, 2002 under the Bonn-Petersburg accord of December 5, 2001, a statement of the Foreign Ministry, released on December 22, reads. Through the statement the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Bulgaria expressed its support for the process of peaceful settlement of the Afghan conflict that began under the aegis of the United Nations, the Special Mission for Afghanistan and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. In pursuance of Resolution 1386 of the UN Security Council, adopted unanimously on December 20, 2001, Bulgaria welcomed the decision to create international peacekeeping forces and confirmed its desire to cooperate in its implementation.
