Foreign Minister Passy and Mohamed Ali al-Masirati, Secretary of Libya's General People's Committee for Justice and Public Security, held a joint conference on December 22. Earlier in the day the Libyan People’s Court postponed once again the hearing of the trial against the six Bulgarian medics accused of intentionally infecting 393 children with HIV virus. The Libyan Justice Minister said it was just another ordinary case. He pointed out that the Libyan justice consists of independent institutions and nobody has control over them. According to him what is happening is a natural development for the case to follow. He added that two countries build their relations on solid base, regardless of the problems of their citizens. Justice Minister Mohamed Ali al-Masirati assured the Bulgarian media and the relatives of the defendants of the just outcome of the trial. Minister Passy underlined his belief in the impartiality and independence of the Libyan court. Asked why the Bulgarian politicians allowed the trial to be politicized Minister Passy said that the Bulgarian people did not reelect the politicians that allowed that to happen.
