ECONOMY MINISTER CLAIMS HE AGREES WITH IMF POSITION

“There is no divergence of opinions, just different semantic interpretations,” Economy Minister Nikolay Vassilev commented on reports of contradicting statements made by him and International Monetary Fund (IMF) representatives. According to Nikolay Vassilev the IMF expressed most strongly opinion on two issues – fixing salaries in monopolists and the companies slated for liquidation. Minister Vassilev explained that the IMF has never presented a list with the companies to be slated for liquidation. The Cabinet’s policy on the loss-incurring companies has been discussed during the negotiations, he said. It was decided that each company will be considered separately.
