The five opposition parties in Bulgaria's Parliament are asking for an urgent meeting with President Parvanov over the latest developments in the country.

Representatives from the Simeon II National Movement (SIINM), nationalistic party Attack (Ataka), United Democratic Forces (UtDF), Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) and Bulgarian People's Union (BPU) urge for an immediate meeting with the president.

Dimitar Abadzhiev from the DSB explained that they would ask the president to execute his constitutional rights and hand the mandate to the first runner up in the elections- SIINM. Nadezhda Mihaylova, UtDF leader, underlined that should the MPs enter the Parliamentary hall for the second vote over the cabinet structure they wuld breach the law.

The minority coalition government, formed by the Socialists and the ethnic Turks party, failed to be elected in Parliament, hours after Socialist leader Stanishev was narrowly chosen prime minister.

At the request of the coalition partners, who claim the ballot was rigged, a new vote for the draft government was scheduled for Thursday morning at 10 am local time.

In case MPs reject the draft cabinet on Thursday, Stanishev is to be deprived of his mandate and President Georgi Parvanov should hand it to the 25 June elections' runner-up SIINM. Still, some constitutional judges say that the second vote would be illegal.
