Sofia will soon have its own museum dedicated to Bulgarians who stepped on the highest peak of the world Everest and Bulgarian mountaineering tourism.

The idea to set up a museum of Bulgarian Mountaineering emerged on the occasion of 110 anniversary since the start of Bulgarian tourism. It will be also dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the start of the mountaineering tourism in the country and the 21st anniversary of the first Bulgaria expedition to Everest.

Everest conquerers Metodi Savov, Nikolay Petkov, Doychin Boyanov are among the main project movers, supported by Aldo Audisio, director of the Turin's Mounteneering Museum.

The visitors will also be able to see the video of the last Bulgarian expedition to Everest. Back then the youngest member of the expedition Hristo Hristov, 26, died after conquering Mount Everest. Yet another Bulgarian died while trying to reach the top of the world.
