Pope: Harry Potter Distorts The Soul

Pope Benedict XVI has scourged the Harry Potter books for "distorting Christianity in the soul."
The comments were made in 2003 in a letter to German author Gabriele Kuby, who criticized the J.K. Rowling series.
The Pope, back then still a cardinal, thanked Kuby for her "instructive" book, media said.
"It is good that you enlighten people about Harry Potter because these are subtle seductions which act unnoticed and by this deeply distort Christianity in the soul before it can grow properly," Benedict XVI wrote.
Later in July, Rowling's sixth book from the best-selling series, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", will be published.
