LAMB EXPORTERS WANT EU QUOTA DISTRIBUTION CHANGED

Bulgarian exporters of lamb are to press for amendments to the Economy Ministry regulations for the annual distribution of a 7,000 –ton quota for sales to the European Union. The initiative was prompted by changes in the export capacity. The smaller farmers consider the current system of distributing the quota on the basis of the exported volumes unfair, since it hinders their exports. 32 Bulgarian companies fill the EU quota, distributed among local exporters in January and June each year.
