BULGARIAN MIG-29 TO BE MODERNIZED

“90 per cent of the Bulgarian aircraft “MIG-29” will be modernized in the Plovdiv aircraft repairs plant, ” Defense Minister Svinarov said after his meeting with President-elect Parvanov. The two officials met on December 10. They discussed the reforms to be conducted in the Bulgarian army after January 2002, when Parvanov will step into power as Supreme Army Commander-in-Chief as well. Georgi Parvanov agreed that SS-23 missiles should be destroyed but expressed satisfaction with the Cabinet’s decision not to fix concrete dates.
