Asked whether the revoked Cabinet’s decision for higher electricity and heating prices will influence the negotiations, IMF mission to Bulgaria leader Schiff responded that electricity price should go up since at this stage it does not cover the production expenditures. Schiff had a meeting with President-elect Parvanov. The Bulgarian Socialist Party has positive attitude towards signing a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund, President-elect Parvanov told Jerald Schiff, IMF mission head at a meeting. Parvanov reiterated that the fund should think of the presidential institution as serious and constructive partner in Bulgaria. He expressed the hope that the agreement will not only include financial stability elements but also structural measures that will improve the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy and will solve the serious social problems.
