Four newborn babies added Monday to Bulgaria's EU-accession joy.

The children were born in the early hours of April 25, heralding the signing of the Accession Treaty for Bulgaria and Romania.

Earlier this month, the Bulgarian Social Ministry announced that they would present special gifts to the lucky families of "European Union babies."

Thus on Monday the infants made their first public appearance to receive silver medallions and honorary diplomas from Social Minister Hristina Hristova.

State leaders of Bulgaria and Romania have already headed to Luxembourg for the signing ceremony. It is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Bulgarian time.
