The Bulgarian government has banned construction works at Vistoha Mountain, just south of the capital city.

The mountain is a traditional weekend destination for crowds of skiers and picnickers from Sofia.

Vitosha's hotels and chalets have an accommodation capacity for 4,000 people.

A special plan has been drawn up for the development of the mountain park until 2010. It allows renovation of the existing hostels but bans building new ones.

The government also allotted BGN 1.5 M fr the management of the resort until 2008.
