Bulgarians left the 46th World Wrestling Championship in Patras, Greece with no medals. Sergey Moreyko lost against Greece's Xenofon Koutsioubas in the 130 kilograms category's bronze medal round with 0:8. Armen Nazaryan, the Bulgarian two-time Olympic champion, also suffered a defeat at 58 kilograms (127 3/4 pounds) on December 9. He lost his semifinal match to Karen Mnatsakanyan of Armenia 5-4.
