BULGARIANS GO TO WRESTLING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTERFINALS

Armen Nazarian and Sergey Mureyko advanced to the quarterfinals of the 46th Greco-Roman World Wrestling Championships in Patras, Greece. Armen Nazarian, Bulgaria's two-time Olympic champion, beat Istvan Majoros of Hungary 4-0 in the 58 kilogram (127 3/4 pound) category on December 8. In the qualifications on December 7 Armen Nazarian beat former world champion and Olympic silver medalist Alfred Ter-Mertchyan of Germany. Nazarian was leading 9-7 when Ter-Mertchyan defaulted with a rib injury.
