The closeness of Russian and Bulgarian cultures was noted by Bulgarian Culture Minister Bozhidar Abrashev, on a working visit in Moscow. He said this in an exclusive interview to Tass on Friday.

"Our cultures are original but are at the same time close to each other in many respects," the minister said. He said he firmly believes that it is necessary to step up and broaden contacts with Russia. "We have much to discuss and to say to each other," the minister said. He noted he believes Russo-Bulgarian ties in culture are not at the level they should be.

The minister said the discussion of the prospects for the development of bilateral cultural ties will be the main theme of his conversation with Russian Culture Minister Mikhail Shvydkoi on Friday. Abrashev expressed the confidence that Russian people will soon become aware of considerable improvement in the area and Bulgarian art will emerge in Russia again. "Our versatile ties will become closer," the Bulgarian minister said.
