Politics | December 6, 2001, Thursday // 00:00

European Parliament President Nicole Fontaine believes that Bulgaria and Romania, which according to her "do not seem sufficiently advanced", should not be differentiated and should be given a chance to catch up for any possible delay in compliance with the Helsinki decisions. Fontaine said that on December 6 at the opening of a two-day meeting in Brussels with the national parliament speakers of the EU membership candidates. In her address to the forum, Kamelia Kassabova, Bulgarian Parliament deputy speaker, said that a simultaneous admission of the 12 candidates instead of the unofficial 10+2 scheme, will be an investment in peace and security. Bulgaria wants equal participation of the candidates in the convention on the future of Europe and right to vote in taking decisions on the future structure of the EU, she added.
