Icarus, a symbol of the heights of human aspiration and the pursuit of truth, is the focus of the latest exhibition of Bulgarian artist Roberto Yonkov, which opened at the end of the week at Sofia Gallery Artamontzev.
The man who flew too close to the sun, seen as the nexus of dualities, has given his name to two of the nine wood sculptures, featuring in the exhibition.
Nine watercolors and an artistic chair of innovative design are also displayed.
The interweaving of woodcarving with modern plastic art trends stands for the search of the effects of form and movement, the artist says.
Yonkov's works have been displayed in USA, Malta, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland.
Art fans can visit the gallery and enjoy the exhibits by March 30.
