GREEK ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY GRANTS EUR 2 M FOR JOINT PROJECTS

The Greek Environment Ministry will grant a total of EUR 2 M for joint Greek-Bulgarian environmental projects, Bulgarian Minister of Environment and Waters Dolores Arsenova and Greek Ambassador to Bulgaria Michalis Christidis decided at their meeting on December 3. The upcoming signing of a memorandum for cooperation between the Bulgarian and Greek Environment Ministries was also discussed at the meeting. The ministers pointed out that three projects have been already completed under the PHARE-program for transborder cooperation and another four, worth EUR 1,7 M, are currently under way. They include projects on Maritsa, Struma and Arda rivers. A total of EUR 300 M have been granted for identifying the zones along the border rivers subject to pollution.
