Bulgarian Tourism 2004 Cashes in EUR 1.7 B

Revenues of Bulgarian tourism recorded EUR 1.7 B in 2004 with foreign tourism turnover hitting EUR 2.4 B.

The data was announced by Deputy Economy Minister Dimitar Hadzhinikolov in Plovdiv who added that the number of foreign tourists in Bulgaria had increased with 50% over the last three years.

For the same period foreign currency incomes recorded a leap of 70%.

Holiday-makers to Bulgaria occupy nearly 450,000 beds annually, Hadzhinikolov said.

Investments in tourism sector have exceeded EUR 500 M over the last five years, the deputy minister announced, and approximately 90% of private investments are of Bulgarian origin.
