TALKING ON CELL PHONES WHILE DRIVING TO BE FINED

Drivers talking on their cell phones without a hands free device while driving will be fined BGN 50 leva, according to amendments to the Road Traffic Act passed at first reading in Parliament. The amendments provide for drivers driving with a blood alcohol content of 50 mg to 20 mg per 100 ml of blood to be fined from BGN 100 to BGN 300. So far the fine was BGN 50 to BGN 150. The fines range between 200 and 500 leva for repeated offences - up from BGN 100 to BGN 250 so far.
