REQUIREMENT FOR COFFEE EXCISE DUTY STAMP REMOVED

The requirement for excise duty stamp on packed coffee will be removed, the working group decided before discussions of the amendments to the Excise Duty Act at second reading in Parliament on November 30. The excise duty on baked bulk coffee will be BGN 1 per kilogram, while excise duty on raw bulk coffee will be BGN 0,50 per kilogram, regardless of the brand. According to the Customs Agency and the Budget Parliamentary Committee coffee is to be imported only through special checkpoints in “broad daylight.”
