SOCIAL MINISTER: PENSIONS, SALARIES MAY BE ABOVE THE ENVISAGED IN 2002

The Consultative Council for Legislation Initiatives with the Parliamentary Committee for Labor and Social Policy discussed the Budget Bill 2002 and the amendments to the Compulsory Social Security Code at its session on November 27. The Employment Encouragement Draft Bill was also discussed. Employers, representatives of trade unions, deputies and ministers attended the discussion. "In case Budget 2002 is exceeded, ways for an increase in state officials salaries and pensions other than those envisaged by budget 2002 will be sought," Social Minister Lidia Shuleva announced after the meeting. The current Budget 2002 provides for a 10% increase in state official salaries and a 6% increase in pensions.
