Bulgaria-descended singing legend Sylvie Vartan arrived in Sofia to take part in a Christmas charity campaign.
Vartan will give out special Christmas presents to children from Bulgarian orphanages and will participate in a charity concert scheduled for December 16. The concert is held within the initiative "A Christmas Tree for the Orphans" organized by the singing legend .
The world-renowned singer will also present her autobiographical book in Sofia and will get awarded with the state order Stara Planina-Second Grade. Vartan will stay in Bulgaria until December 18.
Sylvie Vartan has not performed in Bulgaria since 1990 when she staged a major concert in the capital city. Sylvie Vartan was born on August 15th 1944 in Iskretz in Bulgaria. In 1952, hoping to find better living conditions abroad, the Vartans emigrated to France.
Sylvie Vartan received official recognition for her amazingly long and successful career when the President of the French Republic awarded her with the coveted 'Lйgion d'honneur' on 24 November 1998.
