US Author Tom Wolfe has been given the Bad Sex in Fiction Award for awkward description of intimate moments in his latest novel, I am Charlotte Simmons.

The novel tells of a young female student's life on campus.

Bad Sex in Fiction is awarded annually by the Literary Review magazine for tasteless sexual scenes in published literature.

This year, Will Self, Julian Fellowes, Andre Brink and Wendy Perriam were among the nominees for the rather discouraging award.
