Meglena Kuneva, Chief Negotiator with the European Union, will attend a working meeting with the chief negotiators in Brussels. She hopes to bring back good news. She defined the aim of the visit as improving Bulgaria’s record. "Bulgaria will try to open several negotiation chapters, including those on Energy, Industrial Policy, and
Economic and Monetary Union. We also hope to make progress in closing some of the other chapters," Kuneva explained. According to her the strategy for accelerated accession to the EU will be ready till the end of the year. The year 2002 EU accession has not been discussed by the Cabinet, but Bulgaria has to be ready to be given a chance, Kuneva explained. She underscored that 2002 remains crucial not only for the states that will join EU first.
