A special silver coin celebrating St Nicholas "the Miracle Maker" was introduced in Bulgaria on Thursday.

The piece weight around 23g and has gold-plated ornaments. One of its sides depicts an image of St Nicholas taken from a Bulgarian icon, while the logo of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) is featured on the other.

The coin comes to mark the December 6 "Nikulden" Christian holiday, a tribute to St Nicholas. The saint is the patron of fishermen and sailors as well as bankers, who celebrate their professional holiday on that day.

Meanwhile, people named Nikolay, Nikola and Nikolina host big parties to mark their Name's Day.
