DEPUTY CHIEF PROSECUTOR NOT INFORMED ABOUT CHECK UP ON EX-PM

Deputy Chief Prosecutor Hristo Manchev said he had no information about the initiation of an inquiry on former Prime Minister Ivan Kostov. ”The prosecuting magistracy have found serious violations of privatisation procedure during the transactions concluded with foreign investors,” Manchev announced on the National Bulgarian Television on November 23, without giving any names. The announcement comes after the Prosecution Office conducted two inquiries into such transactions. Of the 3,500 privatisation contracts signed over the last years, the prosecuting magistracy have launched inquiries into 500. A total of 55,000 indictments have been submitted to the court. Investigations will be launched in connection with the sale of Diamant of Razgrad, Golden Sands and Sunny Beach resorts, Alexander Sabotinov and Vesselin Blagoev, former Privatization Agency executive directors, as well as against ex-ministers. Nikola Filchev, Bulgarian Chief Prosecutor, will present a report on the inquiries results on November 24 or November 26 at the latest.
