Bulgaria's most modern grain-loading equipment was commissioned at the Varna Port on November 22 under a Bulgarian-Dutch project and with the technical assistance of the Dutch Economy Ministry. The equipment costs BGN 1,5 M and has capacity of 250 t an hour. Dutch Ambassador to Bulgaria Baroness Henriette van Lynden was present at the official ceremony. The installment of the new equipment took almost three years. The equipment is owned by the Bulgarian company Gifta and is currently being used by Bulgaria’s leading grain exporter Bulagro. Over 30 Bulgarian-Dutch projects have been implemented since 1996, most of them being in maritime transport and in agriculture. For 2001, the Dutch Government has released BGN 20 M for joint projects.
