BULGARIA TO TAKE PART IN NATO TRAINING “STRONG RESOLVE 2002”

The Cabinet is to make a proposal to the Parliament for the participation of a Bulgarian military contingent in the NATO training “Strong Resolve 2002”. The training will take place from March 1 to March 15, 2002 in Poland. Representatives of the navy, land and air forces of most NATO members will take part in the training together with some NATO partner states among which Austria, Slovenia and Romania. The training aims at improving the interaction between NATO member states and their partners during a joint peacekeeping operation. The training will be under the command of NATO Supreme Allied Commander, Atlantic, in cooperation with NATO headquarters in Europe. All phases of a multinational formation operation are to be worked out during the training. Bulgaria is to participate with a 100-member contingent.
