Members of the International Women's Club in Sofia called on companies and organizations to back their efforts in raising public awareness for prevention and cure of breast cancer.

The campaign, which was officially launched September 28, is organized for the third successive year. It takes place under the patronage of Bulgarian President's wife Zorka Parvanova and the active participation of the wife of US Ambassador James Pardew, Kathy Pardew and Maria Novak, President of the International Women's Club Sofia, an organizer of the initiative.

In October, the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bulgaria will join activities of all the major breast cancer charities around the world.

We are happy that the campaign enjoys wide public support for the third year in a row. We are positive that we help more and more people become aware of the importance of the issue, Maria Novak said at a press conference.

The campaign will seek to provide vital information about the necessary preventive measures and a special mammograph for the women in the remote parts of Bulgaria.

The International Women's Club Sofia was founded in 1989 by female representatives of diplomatic and business missions. The charity organization numbers over 230 members from all over the world and implements a number of charity projects in Bulgaria, making donations to associations of disabled people and children and social care institutions.
