Tom Hanks found the inspiration for the role of Viktor Navorski in Steven Spielberg's latest movie The Terminal due to his Bulgarian father-in-law, Serbian Tanjug agency reported.

Viktor Navorski is a traveller from a fictional Eastern European nation who gets stuck in a New York City airport for months after a military coup in his native land. Tom Hanks has reportedly been quite taken with the idea of playing an immigrant, thanks to his in-laws - his wife's mother is Greek and her father is Bulgarian.

In an interview for the Tanjug agency Steven Spielberg says that he would like to meet many Eastern Europeans that are as positive as Viktor Navorski. The great director also said that all people from Eastern Europe should be proud that they live there.
