A new Thracian treasure was unearthed in a highland tomb in Bulgaria.

A gold mask, weighting half a kilo and made of pure gold, alongside a ring, were discovered by Bulgarian archeologist Georgi Kitov. The unique mask is believed to have belonged to the first recorded Odrissi triber's ruler Teres.

Archeologists are still digging for the bones of the person buried at the site, and identification is expected in a few days.

So far, ornate silver, bronze and ceramic pieces have been discovered in the mound.

The golden ring that was unearthed depicts an Olympic rower, and the mask mirrored the face of a mustached man.
