Bulgaria Enjoys Eurocon 2004

The European Science Fiction Convention (ESFC), Eurocon 2004 (Bulgacon) opened doors Thursday in the southern town of Plovdiv.

Over 200 guests will take part in the major event that is to continue until August 8. Prominent authors like Robert Sheckley, Sergey Lukyanenko, Roberto Quaglia, Ian Watson and Andrzej Sapkowski will be special guests.

Patrick Gyger who is a curator at the Museum of science fiction, utopia and extraordinary voyages Maison d'Ailleurs will also be among the guests of honour.

At the science fiction convention the ESFS will hand Eurocon awards in the following categories: Best author, Best Publisher, Best Artist, Best Promoter, Best Magazine, Best Translator, Best Fanzine, Best New Artist.

Eurocon was first held in Trieste, Italy, in 1972. Every year the European Science Fiction Society (ESFS) entrusts the organization of the Eurocon to different countries.
