A secret tunnel in the inner city of ancient Bulgarian capital Pliska was disclosed during excavations in the city.

Archeologists say that the finding is a unique one and could turn Bulgaria's Middle Ages history upside down as there is no data for underground construction works in that period.

Pliska was the first capital (after 681-893) of the First Bulgarian Kingdom. Its ruins lie 3 km north of today's village of Pliska.
