Bulgarian archaeologists began exploring the ancient site two weeks ago. They disclosed that Perperikon was the capital of an ancient civilization called "The Mountain people".
Some pottery with pentacles on it was found and experts claim the five-pointed stars might have been the symbol of the civilization.
The Bulgarian archaeologists also found a monumental building and an ancient temple with marble columns. In the begging of the excavations the archaeologists found a human skeleton, which was believed to be of soldier defending Perperikon.
In ancient Greek history the Perperikon sanctuary has been as important as that of Apollo at Delphi.
