CHANGES IN STATE ADMINISTRATION TO BE MADE

“The Cabinet will choose its speaker among six or seven applicants for the position,” Dimitur Kalchev, Bulgarian Minister of State Administration, announced at a press conference on November 13. The Minister added that all of them are eminent journalists, but the final selection is still to be made. Unlike most European countries, where the Cabinet speaker is Deputy Minister, the speaker of the Bulgarian Cabinet will most probably be member of the Public Relations Directorate. A department of advisors under the Director of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Stoyan Ganev is to be formed. Stoyan Ganev himself is to announce the names of the advisors very soon. In connection with the suggestion of disclosing the government’s resolutions Minister Kalchev said one option is to disclose all of them. It is also possible that the Cabinet’s resolutions on national security will remain secret. The Cabinet is currently conducting a check on the procedures to the Public Orders Act, Minister Kalchev said. Claims against deals of State Agency “Roads” have already been filed in the Prosecution Office.
