BULGARIA ELECTED MEMBER OF UN AGRICULTURE COUNCIL

Bulgaria was unanimously elected member of the Council of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at the 31st Session of the FAO Conference on November 12, 2001 The organization’s headquarters are in Rome. The FAO Council is the supreme body governing the organization's operation between its biennial conferences. Bulgaria joined FAO in 1967. It was member of the Council in 1973-1980 and 1983-1986. The current election coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Bulgarian Permanent Representation to FAO as a separate diplomatic mission in Rome.
