Self-tanning products are priceless in summertime, when you want to show a little more skin without the risk of sunburn. Grilling yourself on the beach all day long is also contra-indicated in case of varicose veins, migraine, or if you have very pale and sensitive skin.
A few easy tips will help you benefit from the "sun in a bottle."
The most important thing is to exfoliate head-to-toe before applying the self-tanning lotion or gel. Pay special attention to areas with rough, dry skin - your knees, elbows and heels.
You can also use some moisturizer before treating those areas. Otherwise, they are likely to absorb too much of the self-tanning product, and get a scorched look.
Do not give in to the temptation of applying too much lotion, thinking that would give you a deeper bronze complexion. The risk is that streaking may occur on your skin.
Make sure that you wait at least 15 minutes before putting on your clothes if you want to keep them from being stained.
