TECHNICAL PROBLEMS HINDER VOTE COUNTING

Politics | November 11, 2001, Sunday // 00:00

The counting of the votes after the end of the election day in several Bulgarian towns was hindered by unclear trial software programs at central level in Sofia. The problem appeared in Yambol, Sliven, Burgas and Pleven. Due to technical problems, the results from Veliko Turnovo and Razgrad could not also be sent to Sofia. If the problem is not solved soon it may lead to hand-counting, which will delay drastically the final results. The speaker of the Regional Electoral Commission in Kurdzhali announced late in the day on November 11 that the technical problems that could have delayed the final results by two and three days have been solved.
