A special initiative to decorate Sofia with poems in different languages started on Thursday, July 1, alongside Dutch EU Presidency handover.

The first poem was by Dutch Jan Hanlo, its words painted on a wall of the Natural Science Museum. The event comes to mark the assuming of the EU presidency by the Netherlands.

Each Bulgarian embassy of EU member and candidate states has adopted a wall in the center of Sofia, which will be decorated with a poem in the language of its country.

The initiative came from the Royal Netherlands Embassy Sofia, and is aimed at promoting the diversity of European languages and literature.
