A well-known Japanese sculptor received support from Bulgarian authorities, for his initiative to promote works by local colleagues.

Masaji Asaga, who arrived in Bulgaria last week, met with Culture Minister Bozhidar Abrashev on Monday, and introduced him closely to the Artists in Residence initiative.

Asaga has been working together with local artists in the village of Ilindentsi. He is considering the founding of a Bulgarian, Japanese Stone Sculpturing Academy there.

The artist is also determined to give Bulgarian sculptors more opportunities for international exhibiting.
