Bulgaria’s Privatization Agency (PA) is to choose an international law firm to represent Bulgaria on the Balkan Airlines’ case at the International Court of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris. The decision was announced by Apostol Apostolov, PA’s Executive Director. The law firm will be chosen under a public procurement procedure. The main requirement to the candidates is their experience in the arbitrary courts of Vienna, Paris and London. The USD 230 M suit against PA was brought by Gad Zeevi, owner of a 75% stake in Balkan Airlines, for breaching the privatization contract. The court procedure is expected to begin by December 2001, after Zeevi pays the necessary fees.
