Bulgarian Everest climber Mariana Maslarova, who went missing May 24, was declared dead today.

Brazilian alpinists who were in Maslarova's team broke the news in Katmandu. The Brazilian climbers reported that they saw Mariana's body at an altitude of 8,680 meters.

Maslarova, 42, was first feared lost in her ascent to the summit on Monday. Later it was reported that two Nepali Sherpas had seen her at an altitude of 8,680 meters.

Russian alpinists were also said to have spotted Mariana Maslarova at camp 2 at a height of 7,800 meters.

The Bulgarian climber was a part of international commercial expedition. She hoped to become the first female Bulgarian on the top of Mount Everest. She is the niece of Bulgaria's first Everest conqueror Hristo Prodanov, who also died in the mountain.

Just a few days earlier another Bulgarian climber Hristo Hristov, 26, died at Mount Everest. Hristov was the youngest member of the Bulgarian expedition. His body was found Monday on the northern side of the peak at an altitude of 8,680 meters.

The Everest fatality count shows 6 confirmed deaths for this season so far: the Bulgarian Hristo Hristov, three Koreans, a Japanese female climber, and one American/Bolivian have perished on the mountain.
